Candace J. Mickens is the founder and director of Ubuntu Village Inc. She has a degree in Business Administration and more than 15 years of business management and accounting experience both in the for profit and not-for-profit sectors. She has traveled to more than 7 African countries as well as India, Brazil, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Paris, The Virgin Islands, Mexico, Jamaica and Aruba. It was during these travels that she fell in love with various forms of traditional dance and culture but also began to realize that people are more alike than different. It is those differences and similarities that should be celebrated and appreciated.

Candace has always had a love for humanity and has a long history of volunteering, mentoring and activism. Her business skills combined with her love of travel, writing, dance and other art forms, propelled her to formally incorporate Ubuntu Village Inc. to serve the community and uplift humanity as a whole.

Serving humanity through Ubuntu Village projects is not just a fly by night idea. It is a purpose driven, life's mission.
